Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a baking pan with parchment paper. Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt in a medium size bowl. Mix together.
In another bowl, combine the butter and sugar until well mixed. Add the applesauce and vanilla extract to the butter and stir it in until combined. Mix in the dry ingredients in with the wet ingredients. Pour in the chocolate chips and fold into the batter.
Scoop the cookies (about 1.5 TBL) and roll into balls. Place onto a cookie sheet a couple of inches apart. Place sheet into the oven and bake. After about 7 minutes, smack the pan down a few times to help the cookies fall. Put back into the oven. Bake for about 10 minutes and take it out of the oven and smack the pan down again. Bake for another 7 minutes until the top is golden.
