Iced Black Tea

I make iced tea every other day as my Mom and I usually drink iced tea instead of water.  When the current pitcher is half full, I start making another batch.  I sometimes add lemon for a little extra flavor.  Using loose leaf tea is an excellent way to save money too as tea bags require more processing and are usually more expensive.

Ingredients

  • 8 Cups Filtered Water
  • 1 Tbl Loose Black Tea Leaves

Preparation

Step 1:

Heat water in a kettle or pot until boiling.  Meanwhile, put the tea leaves in a strainer mesh and place in a non-plastic pitcher.  Pour the hot water over the strainer and steep for 5 minutes.  Remove the tea strainer and let the brewed tea come to room temperature.  Refrigerate to cool the brewed tea completely.

Additional Notes

A lot of sodium and calories can come from not only our food, but also the beverages we consume.  We stick to water, mineral water, and unsweetened tea as our go-to drinks throughout the day.
