We use our leftiover homemade bread to make French toast the next mornng. What a treat to look forward to! Although you can use any store-boughtr bread, be careful because 1 slice of store-bought bread can have up to 200-250 mg sodium.

Ingredients

  • 2 Eggs
  • 1/2 Cup Milk, Non-Fat
  • 1 Tbl Cinnamon, Ground
  • 1 Tbl Maple Syrup
  • 4 French Bread, Homemade - 4 Slices
  • 1/2 Cup Blueberries - Optional Topping
  • 1/2 Cup Raspberries - Optional Topping
  • 2 Tbl Walnuts, Raw - Optional Topping
  • 4 Tbl Maple Syrup - Optional Topping

Preparation

Step 1:

In a small, flat container, mix the eggs, milk, cinnamon, and maple syrup together until homogenous.

Step 2:

Heat a medium non-stick skillet to medium heat. While the skillet is heating up, place the slice of bread in the mixture and wait until the bread soaks up all the liquid.

Step 3:

Place the slice in the skillet and cook until the underside is seared, about 3 minutes. Flip the French toast over on the other side until the egg is fully cooked.

Step 4:

Serve. Optional toppings include maple syrup, powdered sugar, berries, chopped nuts, whipped topping.
