We use our leftover homemade bread to make French toast the next morning. What a treat to look forward to! Although you can use any store-bought bread, be careful because 1 slice of store-bought bread can have up to 200-250 mg sodium.
In a small, flat dish, mix the eggs, milk, cinnamon and maple syrup together until homogenous.
Heat a medium non-stick skillet to medium heat. While the skillet is heating up, place the slice of bread in the egg mixture and wait until the bread soaks up the liquid.
Place the slice in the skillet and cook until the underside is seared, about 3 minutes. Flip the French toast over on the other side until the egg is fully cooked.
Serve. Optional toppings include maple syrup, powdered sugar, berries, chopped nuts and whipped topping.
